The Cheyenne developed their culture, filled with unique and sometimes harrowing celebrations, over many years. Today, their history is one of the most well preserved and well known of the Great Plains tribes. However, their culture only has remained due to the many efforts of the Cheyenne people. If it were not for them, their culture may have died following struggles with the European and American settlers in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
